Expressing Opinions (Minusta…) #

To express an opinion in Finnish, use the structure: [Person in genitive/allative] + mielestÀ/mukaan + opinion

Using -sta/-stĂ€ (From Someone’s Perspective) #

Pattern: [Person in genitive] + -sta/-stÀ + [thing in partitive]

Use this pattern to evaluate an action in general:

On + adjective (partitive) + first infinitive (dictionary form)

  • hauskaa = fun (partitive of hauska)
  • tylsÀÀ = boring (partitive of tylsĂ€)
  • kivaa = nice (partitive of kiva)
  • tĂ€rkeÀÀ = important (partitive of tĂ€rkeĂ€)

Sensory Experiences (Aistikokemukset) #

Sensory verbs describe impressions (sound, look, feel, taste, smell). The quality is usually in the ablative (MiltĂ€?) ending -lta / -ltĂ€ on the adjective (or noun): hyvĂ€ → hyvĂ€ltĂ€, ihana → ihanalta.
